Bordering Italy, Vichères-Liddes is located on the international Grand-St-Bernard artery, a well-known axis that for thousands of years has been used to cross the Alps from the north to the south of Europe and vice-versa. The region is famous for its pass, hospice and St-Bernard dogs.

The region has seen many pilgrims on their way to Rome, as well as traders and soldiers such as Napoleon Bonaparte’s armies in 1800.
